I hope you had a great weekend. I got some time at the beach on Saturday with my family and friends and then watched the Dodgers blow the game yesterday… what a shame haha.
Attached below is a link to an article about the current copper market and the volatility we’re seeing. The massive swings we have seen in the last few months are unheard of. There have been ups and downs but not of this magnitude and frequency.
The majority of the activity is caused by traders and not physical users. Just like trading stocks or other “assets” people are trading copper, aluminum, gold, etc. to capitalize on markets due to the tariffs, overseas markets, and other factors.
As the markets have changed so frequently it has caused the mills both domestic and overseas to adjust their formula pricing or stay out of the market altogether to avoid being caught on the wrong side of the deal.
Overall I think there is good strength in the markets. Steel & stainless steel has stayed relatively flat for this year and the aluminum market has seen prices rise and stay strong.
Hopefully the tariff noise will calm down and we can get back to work as normal without the constant back and forth chaos.
